Emerging once more from the shadows of reflection and rebirth, Minneapolis based Ashbringer return to the heart of their sound, the vast, evocative realm of atmospheric black metal. Long known for their ability to blend ferocity with transcendence, Ashbringer now embraces a renewed creative vision: one that honors their roots while continuing to evolve beyond genre boundaries.

From their earliest recordings, Ashbringer have explored the tension between nature’s serenity and the human condition’s turmoil, weaving together sweeping melodies, blistering intensity, and a deep emotional undercurrent. Their music channels both the cosmic and the personal, inviting listeners into a world where catharsis and chaos coexist in fragile harmony.

Written and recorded in a house that vocalist and guitarist, Nick Stanger and drummer, Andy Meyer rented over the course of a year, this new chapter finds the band reconnecting with the raw spirit that first inspired them yet armed with the experience and experimentation of years spent touring. “Our modus operandi of this record was as follows: we're going to make the most ‘us’ sounding record we possibly can, and we're going to do it completely in house, with gear we already have, without spending any money.” said Stanger.

“Since our previous effort, We Came Here to Grieve, was wildly experimental and all over the place sonically from track to track, we wanted to take the opposite approach this time and make something super consistent sounding that mostly stuck to our core live arrangements of guitars, bass, drums and vocals,” states Stanger.

Ashbringer’s evolution is not a departure, but a circle completed. They have returned to the fires that first forged them, carrying with them the lessons of transformation and maturity. The band’s latest work stands as a testament to resilience, renewal, and the boundless creative force that drives them ever forward.

“We are very proud of this record and are confident that it is our best work to date. It is wild to be on the precipice of our 5th full length LP and are honored that people have stuck with us for over a decade of music,” exclaims Stanger.   “We're very happy to be working with our good friends at the Bölverk Collective and are very much looking forward to the future of this project. We hope everyone enjoys Subglacial and we will see you on the road!”
